Epigenome Journals

The epigenome is a record of the chemical modifications in an organism's DNA and histone proteins; these modifications may be passed on to the offspring of an organism by transgenerational stranded epigenetic inheritance. Changes to the epigenome may lead to changes in the chromatin structure and changes in genome function. The epigenome regulates the expression of genes, the growth, the differentiation of tissues and the suppression of transposable elements. Unlike the underlying genome, which remains largely static within an organism, environmental factors can dynamically alter the epigenome. The Human Epigenome Pilot Project seeks to classify and catalog Methylation Variable Positions (MVPs) within the human genome as a prelude to a future Human Epigenome Project. Advances in sequencing technology now allow multiple molecular methodologies to assay epigenomic states across genomes.   Related epigenomics journals: Epigenomics Journal, Medical Epigenetics Journal, Genetics and Epigenomics Journal, Epigenetics and Chromatin Journal, Environmental Epigenetics Journal, Epigenetics Journal.
