Calcaneal Spur Journals

A calcaneal spur, or commonly referred to as a heel spur, occurs when a bony outgrowth forms on the heel bone. Calcaneal spurs are often located at the rear of the heel (dorsal heel spur) or under the only (plantar heel spur). The dorsal spurs are often related to Achilles Tendinopathy, while spurs under the only are related to Plantar fasciitis. When a foot is exposed to constant stress, calcium deposits build abreast of rock bottom of the heel bone. Generally, this has no effect on an individual's lifestyle. However, repeated damage can cause these deposits to compile on one another, causing a spur-shaped deformity, called a calcaneal (or heel) spur. An inferior calcaneal spur is found on the inferior aspect of the calcaneus and is usually a response to plantar fasciitis over a period, but can also be related to Marie-Strumpell disease (typically in children). A posterior calcaneal spur develops on the rear of the heel at the insertion of the Achilles tendon. An inferior calcaneal spur consists of a calcification of the calcaneus, which lies superior to the plantar fascia at the insertion of the plantar fascia. A posterior calcaneal spur is usually large and palpable through the skin and should get to be removed as a part of the treatment of insertional Achilles tendonitis. A journal may be a scholarly publication containing articles written by researchers, professors and other experts. Journals specialise in a selected discipline or field of study. Unlike newspapers and magazines, journals are intended for a tutorial or technical audience, not general readers. Journals are published on a daily basis (monthly, quarterly, etc.) and are sequentially numbered. Each copy may be a n issue; a group of issues makes a volume (usually annually is a separate volume).
