Ankle Replacement Innovation

Ankle replacement, or ankle arthroplasty, can be a surgery to exchange the human ankle 's damaged articular surfaces with prosthetic components. This procedure is becoming the treatment of choice for patients requiring arthroplasty, replacing the conventional use of arthrodesis, i.e. fusion of the bones. The restoration of range of motion is that the key feature in favor of ankle replacement with reference to arthrodesis. However, clinical evidence of the prevalence of the previous has only been demonstrated for particular isolated implant designs. Traditionally, tibiotalar arthrodesis is the gold standard, the emerging techniques and improved implants have made Total ankle replacement (TAR) a viable choice with increased use. ankle arthroplasty has been growing in popularity because the implants available for replacement have improved. Current studies indicate a few 90 percent patient satisfaction rate within the first four years after surgery.
