 The nonappearance of certifiable encounters is an enduring test in the field of higher designing training. In this way, learning-situations, which are exceptionally dependent upon the understudies' forces of creative mind alone, would not be promising by any stretch of the imagination. Especially concerning the expanding unpredictability of data, material-and work process systems in a digitized industry, future assembling engineers should be prepared towards a capacity to act and inside arranged settings like shop floor conditions. Subsequently, situations empowering a supportable jetty of hypothetical information through the connection among deduction and activity are a need. In light of expanded dropout rates and because of canceling the obligatory pre-study temporary job for unhitched male applicants in mechanical designing, first year understudies get the chance to pick up their encounters and get an alleged 'machining permit'. In the soul of a comprehensive 'hands-on designing'- approach, the understudies will go through the whole procedure – from thought to item – and experience different assembling forms in a mechanical workshop – the 'Technikum': a 500 square meter creation office at the Hochschule Ruhr West. The created situation has been gotten from a collaboration with the TU Dortmund Universities' residency for Engineering Didactics, where the course configuration was utilized for instructing woodcraft to grown-ups.
