Bone marrow edema is a condition when excess fluids within the bone marrow build up and cause swelling. Bone marrow edema most ordinarily occurs within the hips, knees and ankles during this case, bone marrow edema of the knee may be a main explanation for localized knee and joint pain, and is merely diagnosable via a Magnetic Resonance Imagining test (MRI).
