Pharmaceutical Analysis is an essential branch of pharmaceutical sciences that ensures the safety, efficacy, and consistency of medicinal products. The discipline encompasses the identification, characterization, and quantification of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), excipients, and impurities present in drug formulations. With the increasing complexity of pharmaceutical products and the stringent regulatory requirements enforced by agencies such as the FDA, EMA, and CDSCO, pharmaceutical analysis has become indispensable for drug development, manufacturing, and quality control. Analytical methodologies in this field include both classical techniques, such as titrimetry and gravimetry, as well as modern instrumental techniques like high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC), mass spectrometry (MS), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, and UV-Vis spectroscopy. These techniques allow for precise measurement of drug content, detection of impurities, and assessment of stability under various storage conditions. Furthermore, pharmaceutical analysis is critical in bioanalysis, which involves monitoring drug levels in biological matrices to support pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies.
