Abstract

ValidatedHPTLCmethod for the simultaneous determination of diclofenac potassiumand tizanidine hydrochloride in tablet dosage form

Asimple, precise, accurate and rapid High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) method was developed for the simultaneous estimation of Diclofenac Potassium and Tizanidine Hydrochloride in tablet dosage forms. A CAMAG Linomat IV Sample Applicator in Precoated silica gel Plate 60F 254 (Merck) and the mobile phase solvent system consisting of Toluene: Isopropyl alcohol:Ammonia (30:20:2.5)were used.The drugswere scanned for Rf values in the scanner at the wave length 280nm. The Rf value of Diclofenac Potassiumand Tizanidine were 0.62 - 0.69 and 0.85-0.92 respectively. The Linearity forDiclofenac PotassiumandTizanidineHCLwere in the range of 3000 to 7000 g/ml and 120 to 260 g/ml.Results of the analytical method were validated statically, and by recovery studies. The Proposed method can be successfully used to determine the drug contents ofmarketed formulation.
