The syntheses and the fluorescence properties of various 2-{5-[2- arylethenyl]-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl}-3H-benzo[f]chromen-3-ones (5a-e) as candidate of novel fluorophores emitting in green region has been reported as among the most sensitive and practically useful fluorescent brighteners.
