Synthesis and characterization of some novel 5-(4-arylidenamino-3-aryl-1,2,4-triazol-5-yl)-2-substituted benzoxazoles

An efficient synthesis of some novel 5-(4-arylidenamino-3-aryl-1,2,4-triazol- 5-yl)-2-substituted benzoxazoles fromthe 5-(2-substituted benzoxazol-yl)- 4-amino-3-aryl-1,2,4-triazoles on treatmentwith different substituted aldehydes in methanol promoted by acetic acid as a catalyst is described. This new approach has the advantage of excellent yields (96%) and short reaction times (3 to 4hr).
