Synthesis and antibacterial activity of 3-substituted-8-methoxy-1, 2, 4-triazino[3, 4-b]benzothiazole-4(H)-ones

The parent compound 8-methoxy-2H-1,2,4-triazino[3,4-b]benzothiazole- 3,4-dione (2) was prepared by heating 2-hydrazino-6-methoxybenzothiazole in ethanol with diethyl oxalate in the presence of pyridine which on treatmentwith phosphoryl chloride afforded 3-chloro-8-methoxy- 1, 2, 4-triazino[3,4-b] benzothiazole-4(H)-one (3). This reactive chlorine was substituted by secondary cyclic amines like morpholine, piperidine, pyrrolidine and substituted aromatic amines to get corresponding 3- substituted derivatives. These newly synthesized compounds were screened for antibacterial activity.
