Studies on acetylpyrimidine: A facil oneÃ?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?pot synthesis of condensed pyrimidines

Cyclo addition of benzal acetophenone to mercaptopyrimidine (1) afforded thiopyranopyrimidine (5). Ethylglycinate (7a) reactedwith chloropyrimidine (6) to produce deazapurine (10) while ethylphenylglycinate (7b,c) yielded pyrrolopyrimidine (9a,b). The synthesis of pyrimidodiazpen (13) was achieved from the condensation reaction between compound (6) and hydrazine derivative (11). The synthesis of pyrimidoquinoline (16), pyridopyrimidine (21), (24) was also described.
