Abstract
Stem Cell Research: Foundations, Advances, and Therapeutic Potential
Author(s): Sofia MartinezStem cell research is a rapidly advancing field of biomedical science that focuses on the study of undifferentiated cells capable of self renewal and differentiation into specialized cell types. These unique properties make stem cells invaluable for understanding developmental biology, disease mechanisms, and regenerative therapies. Over the past few decades, significant progress has been made in isolating, characterizing, and manipulating various types of stem cells, including embryonic, adult, and induced pluripotent stem cells. This article provides an overview of stem cell research, highlighting key scientific developments, major applications in medicine, and the ethical and technical challenges associated with the field. The potential of stem cell-based therapies in treating degenerative diseases and tissue injuries is also discussed.
