Abstract

Solvent free synthesis, spectral linearity, antimicrobial, antioxidant and insect antifeedant activities of some 1-methyl-2-pyrrolyl chalcones

Author(s): Ganesamoorthy Thirunarayanan, Ganesan Vanangamudi, Muthuvel Subramanian

Some 2E N-methyl-2-pyrrolyl chalcones have been synthesized using greener catalyst fly-ash:sulphuric acid assisted solvent free environmentally benign Crossed-Aldol reaction. The yields of chalcones are more than 90%. The synthesized chalcones are characterized by their physical constants and spectral data. The spectral group frequencies have been correlated with various Hammett substituent constants using single and multi-linear regression analyses. The antimicrobial, antioxidant and insect antifeedant activities of all chalcones have been studied.
