Fungal Strain

 A strain may be a genetic variant or sub-type of a micro-organism like fungus. Whereas specie refers to organisms that are related supported genetic, biochemical and phenotypic criteria, a strain refers to isolates of a given species supported variety of characteristics including serotyping, enzyme type, functional traits and protein plasmid characterization etc. Standard histological stains for growths are Grocott (methanmine) silver (GMS) stain or Periodic corrosive Schiff (PAS). The GMS stain is more touchy than the PAS stain, however includes a sign to commotion issue in that it stains incendiary cells (lysosomes) and tissue reticulin, moreover to growths.
