Abstract

Polarographic behavior of crotamiton and determination of its residues in water samples

Author(s): T.Raveendranath Babu, K.Sivasankar, P.Sujana

This effort dealswith the electrochemical behaviour of crotamiton the C=C group containing pesticide and its relics inwater samples. Differential pulse polarographic method was used to study the reduction behaviour of crotamiton. Dropping mercury electrode was used as working electrode and universal buffer with pH range2to6 as supporting electrolyte reduction mechanismevoluted by cyclic voltammetry. The optimumpH to catch well distinct peak for the discovery is originate to be 6.0. The peak current is found to differ linearly with the concentration of the pesticide over the range 1.06 x 10-3Mto 1.05 x 10-5M. The lower detectionwas limit found to be 1.06 x 10-5M.
