Multi Drug Therapy In Leprosy

Since 1995, WHO has furnished Multidrug remedy free of cost to leprosy patients in all endemic countries. The tablets used in Multidrug remedy are a mixture of rifampicin, clofazimine and dapsone for MB leprosy sufferers and rifampicin and dapsone for PB leprosy patients. Among this rifampicin is the most crucial antileprosy drug and consequently is blanketed in the remedy of both styles of leprosy. Treatment of leprosy with handiest one antileprosy drug will always result in development of drug resistance to that drug. Treatment with dapsone or some other antileprosy drug used as monotherapy should be considered as unethical exercise.
