Nicotine Addiction Peer-review Journals

Nicotine sustains addictive use of tobacco, which in turn causes a great deal of premature disability and death. The core of drug dependency is the lack of control over drug use. Studies in molecular biology indicate that the subtype of the α 4β 2 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor is the principal receptor mediating nicotine dependency. Nicotine acts on these cholinergic receptors of the brain in order to promote the release of neurotransmitters (dopamine and others), producing gratification, relaxation and regulation of mood. Neuroadaptation develops with repeated exposure to nicotine, which results in tolerance of many of the nicotine effects. Nicotine abuse is one of the greatest challenges worldwide. Peer review is the work done while screening submitted manuscripts and applications for funding. It enables authors to follow agreed professional criteria and reduces the circulation of irrelevant observations, unwarranted statements, incorrect interpretations and personal opinions.
