 Agricultural Application of Mycorrhizal Fungi to extend Crop Yields, Promote Soil Health and Combat global climate change . A beneficial relationship exists between certain soil fungi and many plants.Soil fungi-promoted carbon sequestration could actively assist in combating climate change. The fungi help the plants absorb nutrients and water more efficiently. Fungi are therefore an important a part of the large agricultural industry. Fungi can help food production in other ways also . Yeast also performs fermentation, a process that fungi can use to produce energy, which produces wine, beer, and spirits. They have other ecosystem roles as well. As animal pathogens, fungi help to regulate the population of damaging pests. These fungi are very specific to the insects they attack, and don't infect animals or plants. The mycorrhizal relationship between fungi and plant roots is important for the productivity of farm land
