REM Sleep

Rapid eye drive sleep (REM sleep or REMS) is a single stage of sleep in mammals and birds, different by random/rapid movement of the eyes, attended with low muscle tone through the body, and the propensity of the sleeper to dream brightly. The REM stage is also known as paradoxical sleep (PS) and infrequently desynchronized sleep because of corporal resemblances to stirring conditions, including fast, low-voltage desynchronized brain surfs. Electrical and chemical action flexible this stage seems to make in the brain stem and is branded most particularly by an abundance of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, combined with a closely whole nonappearance of monoamine neurotransmitters histamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine.
