Bhramari Pranayama

Bhramari Pranayama, also known as Humming Bee Breath, is a calming breathing practice that relieves the nervous system and helps connect us to our truest inner nature. Bhramari is the Sanskrit word for "bird" and this pranayama is so called in practice because of the humming sound created at the back of the throat like a bird 's gentle humming. Like with most pranayamas, Bhramari is best done on an empty stomach. While it can be practiced at any time of day, bhramari is particularly potent in the early morning and late at night when fewer distracting noises are present and our inner perception is most acute. Utilities: Soothes and calms the mind Brings about cerebral tension The pineal and pituitary glands are stimulated, supporting their proper functioning Soothes the nerves Relieves stress and anxiety Dissipates anger Lowers blood pressure
