Asensitive voltammetricmethod for detection ofmercury ions is described which is made by modifying a carbon paste electrode with clay. A linear working range for concentration ofmercury between 0.18mMto 0.91mM. The electrochemical responses obtained by cyclic voltammetry (CV) at claymodified carbon paste electrode (Clay-CPE) were found to be analytically suitable to develop a method for the determination of mercury at low concentration levels. The developed method was applied for the detection ofHg(II) in tap water.
