Small Bowel Obstruction

 A gastrointestinal condition in which digested material is prevented from passing normally through the bowel. These are usually caused by scar tissue, hernia, or cancer or It can be caused by fibrous tissue that compresses the gut, which can develop many years after abdominal surgery. It can also be caused by certain medication. Some of the symptoms include Crampy abdominal pain that comes and goes, Loss of appetite, Constipation, Vomiting, Inability to have a bowel movement or pass gas, swelling of the abdomen. Untreated, intestinal obstruction can cause serious, life-threatening complications, Tissue death or Infection occurs which may requires immediate medical and often surgical attention.
