Oxidized Dextran Open Access Journals

The dextran oxidation by the sodium period ate is a catalysis-free aqueous reaction which yields a polyaldehyde dextran that can serve as a macromolecular cross-linker for amino group bearing polymers to form hydrogel. The functional groups of dextran and Odex were identified by FTIR spectra (Figure 1(a)). The broad peak at the region of 3500 cm−1 corresponded to the OH stretching vibration of the polysaccharide in both the spectra.30 However, a decrease in the intensity of OH in the Odex spectra might be attributed to the conversion of OH group into CHO group during oxidation reaction. Similarly, the peak at 2920 cm−1 was assigned to C–H stretching vibrations of dextran and Odex. Open Access Journals Magazine was founded with the goal of developing a credible platform and providing unrestricted access to scientific publications to rapidly disseminate the latest updates in various fields of science and technology.
