Nursing In General Practice Journals
General Practice Nurses work in a GP surgery as part of a prime healthcare team, which naturally comprises doctors, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, and dieticians. A practice nurse will be involved in almost every feature of patient care and treatment, undertaking such tasks as Treating small injuries. On average, a practice nurse is paid the equal of a Band 6 nurse on the Agenda for Change scale, but pay rates can vary widely from practice to practice, with no annual automatic pay increase. The major change between NPs and RNs is the level of autonomy granted to nurse practitioners. They can see patients on their own or refer to a physician or expert as a case requires. Unlike RNs, nurse practitioners can identify and treat acute infections and can advise medications.
