Nitrogen Fixing Microorganisms Peer Reviewed Journals
Nitrogen fixation may be a procedure by which nitrogen (N2) within the
atmosphere is converted into ammonia (NH3).
Microorganisms which will fix nitrogen are prokaryotes (both bacteria and archaea, distributed all around their individual kingdoms) called diazotrophs. Nitrogen fixation, natural and artificial , is crucial for all sorts of life since nitrogen is required to biosynthesize fundamental building blocks of plants, animals and other life structures.
Microorganisms employed to reinforce the supply of nutrients, viz., nitrogen (by fixing
atmosphere N), to the crops are called biofertilizers. In recent years, biofertilizers 2 have emerged as a crucial component for biological organic process. It offers an economically attractive and ecologically sound route for Augmenting nutrient supply. Plant growth promoting
species are commonly wont to improve crop yield. In addition to their agricultural usefulness, there are potential benefits in environmental applications. Thus various
species of Rhizobium for legumes, blue - chlorophyte (BGA) or cyanobacteria and Azolla (a fern containing symbiotic N2 - fixing BGA, i.e., Azolla Anabaena Azollae) for wet land
rice and Azotobacter / Azospirillum for several crops can play significant role in agriculture. Peer reviewed Journal of Biofertilizers & Biopesticides, is a crucial and reliable source of current information on developments within the field. It publishes original papers, reviewed papers, case studies and short communications on the fundamentals, theoretical as well as applications and
management of environment.
