Acute And Refractory Asthma

Asthma patients are considered refractory once they experience frequent asthma attacks, persistent symptoms or low lung function despite taking asthma medication. Some refractory asthma patients need to take oral steroids like prednisone to manage their asthma. While patients with refractory asthma structure only a little number of asthmatics, significant medical costs, their condition can require frequent healthcare visits and reducing their quality of life. Asthma exacerbations are avoidable with appropriate, patient education and regular therapy. Despite this, within us alone, approximately 12 million people annually experience an acute exacerbation of their asthma, 1 / 4 of which require hospitalization. The medical diagnosis of acute asthma includes COPD, bronchitis, bronchiectasis, foreign body, extra-or intra-thoracic tracheal obstruction, cardiogenic pulmonary oedema, non-cardiogenic pulmonary oedema, pneumonia, pulmonary embolus, chemical pneumonitis, and hyperventilation syndrome.
