Influence of morphology and Particle size of tungsten trioxide (WO3) nanocrystals on the electrochromic performances

We report herein a novel synthesis of tungsten trioxide (WO3) nanoplate and nanosheet by thermal decomposition of tungestic acid prepared by acidic precipitation. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) was used to study the crystal structure and morphology of the prepared WO3 nanocrystals. The structure characterization and phase decomposition temperature were investigated by X-Ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). TheWO3 filmwith nanosheets structure showed a significant improved electrochromic performance with a fast coloration process and slowbleaching processwith fast response time for both nanoplates and nanosheets structures.
