Family Mediterranean Fever

Family Mediterranean Fever (FMF) is a genetic condition that causes repeated fever episodes that are usually accompanied by abdominal, chest or joint pain. It occurs most often in people of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern origin, and the first episodes usually begin in infancy. Family Mediterranean fever affects primarily populations of Mediterranean region, particularly people of Armenian, Arab, Turkish, or Jewish ancestry. Among these populations the disease affects 1 among 200 to 1,000 individuals. For other populations this is less common. Signs and symptoms of Mediterranean familial fever include: Fever, abdominal pain , chest pain, achy, swollen joints, a red rash on your legs, especially under your knees, muscle aches, a swollen, tender scrotum
