Abstract

UNRAVELLING THE NEW INSIGHTS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TOOLS IN AGRICULTURE

Author(s): Swagata Saikia

The world population is poised to double by 2050,which means doubling agricultural production in order to meet food demands, which is about 70% increase in food production (FAO,2008). The potential yield of agriculture is affected by various kinds of biotic and abiotic stress factors which can reduce the quantity and quality of crop production. Artificial intelligence and data enabled tools at the doorstep of farmers can overcome these challenges. AI is making a huge impact in all domains of the agricultural industry. Detection of diseases in the plant is utmost need for farmers and agricultural experts. Image based based processing of diseased plant parts will serve as a potential tool in precision farming. The images acquired are processed, transformed and then segmented. Once the image is segmented, the extracted region are post-processed to remove pixel regions not considered part of the target region. Finally, detection and classification of plant diseases are done based on previous fed database by the neural networks (Kundalia,2019). Eventually this will lower the cost of production and facilitate next green revolution of the world.
