 Regulatory affairs is an industry that regulates the production, research, manufacturing, marketing , and distribution of foods , medicines, and medicinal products to ensure that they meet regulatory requirements for human use. There are several emerging trends in the industry which influence hiring patterns. Such developments are likely to extend the scope of work for regulatory professionals, and move demand from employers to new skills. Regulatory agencies around the world are progressively monitoring new technological advances and supply chain problems, evolving customer preferences and new types of food products on the market. As a result, we have witnessed many worldwide regulatory changes with more stringent requirements and increased enforcement around food safety and claims. The function of regulatory affairs in the nutrition sector is no longer confined to the role of compliance alone and is becoming more critical to companies' growth and success. Early partnership with regulatory affairs is a key component of ensuring innovation yields investment returns. In the industry, inadequate regulatory experience and lack of knowledge of the need to include regulatory experts in the design and development process early on persists, leading to missed opportunities, costly delays and wasted resources.
