Saccharomyces Cerevisiae

 Saccharomyces cerevisiae (commonly referred to as baker's yeast) may be a single-celled eukaryote that's frequently utilized in research project . S. cerevisiae is an attractive model organism due to the fact that its genome has been sequenced, its genetics are easily manipulated, and it is very easy to maintain in the lab. Saccharomyces cerevisiae, a kind of budding yeast, is in a position to ferment sugar into CO2 and alcohol and is usually utilized in the baking and brewing industries. Beyond human biology, S. cerevisiae is that the main tool in wine, beer, and occasional production due to its enormous fermentation capacity and its high ethanol tolerance. It is also used as a “cell-factory” to supply commercially important proteins (such as insulin, human albumin , hepatitis vaccines).
