Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy Journals
Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) is a severe, myelin-damaging central nervous system ( CNS) disease in an immunosuppressive setting that is superimposed by concurrent autoimmune disorders such as
multiple sclerosis and AIDS, or concurrent administration of immune modulatory monoclonal antibody
drugs such as natalizumab. The causative agent is a polyomavirus known as the John Cunningham (JCV)
virus that affects oligodendrocytes and astrocytes, leading to focal, severe, and progressive demyelination throughout the brain. The
pathogenesis of JCV 's latent and active infection has yet to be fully understood, despite detailed medical studies. Journal article is sometimes referred to as a Scientific Article, a Peer-Reviewed Article, or a Scholarly Research Article. Journal papers are sometimes referred to together as the Literature in a given area. Journal publications are most commonly Secondary Research Papers.
