Lipidomics is a large-scale study of cellular lipid pathways and networks in biological systems. The term "lipidome" is used to define the complete lipid profile within a cell , tissue, organism, or ecosystem and is a subset of "metabolome" that also includes the other three major groups of biological molecules: proteins / amino acids, sugars, and nucleic acids.
