Lipidomics Impact Factor

Lipidomics is a large-scale study in biological systems of the cellular lipid pathways and networks. The term "lipidome" is used to define the complete lipid profile within a cell , tissue, organism or ecosystem and is a subset of "metabolome" which also includes the other three major groups of biological molecules: proteins / amino acids, sugars and nucleic acids. Impact factor represents the average number of citations of recent papers published in scientific and social science journals in a given year or time, and is also used as a measure for the relative importance of the journal in its sector. It is initially conceived by Eugene Garfield, the president of the Institute for Scientific Information. The impact factor of a journal is evaluated by dividing the number of current year citations into the source items that had been published in that journal over the past two years. A journal's impact factor is assessed by dividing the number of current year citations into the source items that were published in that journal over the previous two years. A journal may adopt editorial policies to increase its impact factor. For example, journals may publish a larger percentage of review articles that are generally cited more than research reports. Consequently, the review articles may increase the impact factor of the journal and the review journals will therefore often have the highest impact factors in their respective fields.
