HIV Genotype

These tests examine the particular genetic structure or genotype of HIV taken from an individual (a standard blood sample is all that's required). The human immunodeficiency virus is assessed into two main types: HIV-1 and HIV-2. HIV-1 was discovered first and is more prevalent worldwide, while HIV-2 is a smaller amount pathogenic.
