 Criminal law is only one of the devices by which organized societies protect the security of individual interests and ensure the survival of the group just as long as we willingly take the prescribed legal consequences. As far as the law is anxious, criminal behaviour is to be avoided. This is so whether or not we are enthusiastic to take the implications It proscribes conduct perceived as threatening, harmful, or otherwise endangering to the property, health, safety, and moral welfare of people inclusive of one's self the distinction between criminal law people inclusive of one's self. Most criminal law is established by statute, which is to say that the laws are enacted by a legislature and tort law is difficult to draw with real precision the determination of criminal sanctions was to make the offender give retribution for harm done and expiate his moral guilt. Local governments all have penal codes that describe the specific crimes that they prohibit and the punishments that criminals may face.
