Bacteriology Innovations
It is one of the branch and specialty of
biology that studies the morphology, ecology, genetics and
biochemistry of bacteria. This subdivision of
microbiology involves the identification, classification, and characterization of bacterial species. Bacteriologists isolate and identify bacterial and
fungal pathogens. Specimens may be taken at necropsy or from live animals. Bacterial antibiotic susceptibility tests also are performed to spot antibiotic-resistant bacteria and determine optimal therapeutic options. The science and
study of bacteria and their reference to
medicine and to other areas like
agriculture (e.g., farm animals) and industry. Bacteria are single-celled
microorganisms which may live as independent organisms or, dependently, as parasites. The small molecules produced by environmental bacteria have been mainstays of both chemical and biological research for decades, and some have lead to important therapeutic interventions. These small molecules are shaped by survival as they evolved to satisfy changing functional roles in their native environments.
