Alzheimer`s Disease Etiology

Aluminum has been implicated within the Etiology of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Hallmark neuropathological signs include neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs), senile plaques (SP), and cerebrovascular amyloid. Early onset AD usually features a familial link, thanks to gene mutations which end in increased secretion of neurotoxic amyloid β protein (Aβ), alittle peptide that accumulates to make amyloid plaques within the brain, an indicator sign of AD. Late-onset/sporadic sorts of AD, which account for >95% of cases, are a results of genetic and environmental factors. Aluminum is one among the suggested environmental contributors. The genesis of the hypothesis that aluminum plays a task within the etiology of AD was an observation reported in 1965 of neurofibrillary degeneration in rabbit brain after intracerebral Aluminum injection.
