Industrial Crop

An industrial crop, also called a non-food crop, may be a crop grown to supply goods for manufacturing, for instance fibre for clothing, instead of food for consumption. Industrial crops may be a designation given to an enterprise that attempts to boost farm sector income, and supply economic development activities for rural areas. Industrial crops also plan to provide products which will be used as substitutes for imports from other nations. The range of crops with non-food uses is broad, but includes traditional arable crops like wheat, also as less conventional crops like hemp and Miscanthus.
