Abstract Medicinal chemistry compounds are central to the discovery and development of therapeutic agents, and microbial chemistry plays a significant role in their generation and modification. Microorganisms produce a vast array of structurally diverse bioactive compounds and can also transform synthetic molecules into pharmacologically relevant forms. This article explores the role of medicinal chemistry compounds within microbial chemistry, emphasizing microbial biosynthesis, biotransformation, and pathway engineering as key contributors to modern drug discovery and development.
