Author(s): V.Vaidhyalingam, A.Albin Joseph, M.Vijey Aanandhi

A series of novel Mannich bases have been synthesized by treating 1(5 bromo- 2-oxoindolin-3-ylidene)-4-(pyridine-2-yl)thiosemicarbazide with formaldehyde and different secondary amines. The structures of compounds were established on the basis of the elemental analysis. IR, 1H-NMR and mass spectral data. The compounds were investigated for antimicrobial activity against B.subtilis, S.aureus, S.epidermidis,E.coli, P.aeruginosa, Salmonella typhi, Candida albicans, Cryptococcus neoformas and A.niger.
