Synthesis, characterization and photocatalytic activity of CdS-Montmorillonite clay composites
Author(s): E.Jayashree, Veda Ramaswamy, H.SeshadriCdS-Montmorillonite clay nanocomposites synthesized by a one-step method using stirring and ultrasonic agitation reveal sub-nanometer CdS pillarswithin the intergallery space and nanometer CdS particles outside of the intergallery of the host clay. The samples show good photo catalytic activity for the degradation ofmethylene blue and the degradation of EDTA. Our samples having hexagonal wurtzite CdS structure of different nano size are likely to be a very active photo catalyst for splitting of water.
