Under the controlled magnetic field, an efficient separation method has been developed for separation of purine alkaloids from Camellia sinensis (L.) O.Kuntze with magnetic microspheres with sulfonic acid groups. Contact time, temperature, solid-liquid ratio and initial concentration of the extracts have various influence on the separation performance of related bioactive constituents. After the desorption with HCl aqueous solution, the magnetic microspheres could be recycled and reused several times without significant change. The application of this newmethod is expected in the preparation of similar bioactive natural products and functional constituents from various sources.
